Netherley Reflects (people needed)
Held on Sundays this is a massive project working with the
people of Netherley/Belle Vale as our inspiration and our contribution towards Capital of Culture. We’ve spoken to residents on the estate and already we’ve learned so much! Yet there’s still so much to learn. We’re looking for more people who’d like to tell us about their lives and experiences of living in Netherley. We aim to turn the Valley into one big art installation in the summer. Young people are invited to work with our professionals to realise their chosen art-form whether it be a play, poetry, music, art, film, photography.
Many thanks to Youth Opportunity Fund

This arts participation programme runs from May 2006 – April 2007 and is open to young people deemed to be ‘at risk’, between the ages of 11 and 19 years.
Celebrating their lives, experiences and aspirations, young people are encouraged to explore two main themes through a variety of arts-based media.
‘Inspiring Landscapes’
– This is an opportunity for young people to explore their emotional and physical landscapes and how our locality can inform our aspirations, experiences and desires.‘A Sense of Connection’
– Here we will explore the possibility that our every action has a consequential affect on others and our environment. Young people are encouraged to express a link with humanity using their chosen art mediums.
Since 2003 Valley Community Theatre has delivered an innovative and exciting strand of theatre/music and film training as part of our arts to Inclusion programme.

1 Radio play was written by our young people and performed on Radio Merseyside
Through active participation our young people have shown significant development in relation to self-esteem, confidence and group engagement
