Who / What is Valley Community Theatre?

The Valley Community Theatre was established Netherley, Liverpool in 1994, it is a registered charity and takes pride in its inclusion and free provision. Our aims are to support the regeneration of the area through the use of arts and culture, investing in the creative and personal development of all the people who come into contact with the organisation.
We have become recognised as an invaluable arts venue and community resource, which facilitates the educational, social and creative development of the Netherley and wider Merseyside communities. The Valley is the only dedicated arts resource in the area and the only one to tackle social exclusion using the arts on such a grand scale. Over the past fourteen years work has been focused on children and young people.
VCT has provided our community with:
Ambitious, experimental and high quality arts activities
Positive change and enhanced community cohesion & engagement
Positive diversionary activities for young people ‘at risk’ often linked to accreditation.
Some of our achievements include:
Winning a First Light National Film Award
Running courses accredited by the National Open College
Network with over 125 young people gaining qualifications
Performing at the Theatre Royal Drury Lance at a Princes Trust conference
Being recognised by the Centre of Applied Theatre Research as one of the top ten youth theatre resources in the country
Writing and performing a play which featured on BBC Radio Merseyside
Awarded by Liverpool City Council for contribution to road safety awareness
Ensuring that arts provision is accessible to everyone in the area irrespective of their socioeconomic status.
